Luka Doncic just dropped 53 and is averaging 40 a game: is he already the MVP lock, or is 10 games way too early?
Luka just put up 53 against Portland, his fourth straight 40-point game, and he is averaging 40.1 points through 10 games - something nobody has done since Wilt. The Lakers are 8-2 and he is even playing defense now, leading the league in holding guys to bad shots inside the arc. I know it is early and Redick himself says he does not talk MVP until 50 games in, but has anyone ever started a season this hot and NOT won it? Or is this the classic November heater that cools off by January?

He has been unreal - 40 a game and the defense numbers are real too, not just scoring. But ten games is ten games. Last season he averaged 37.5 in March and then tore his hamstring in April and missed the rest of the year. The MVP case is his to lose right now, but the award goes to whoever is still standing in April, and a lot can happen between now and then. Just enjoy watching it.
