Heat vs Clippers tonight: is Klay Thompson actually finding his rhythm, or is this just a hot stretch?
Klay Thompson is the top trending search in the US today ahead of the Heat vs Clippers game tonight, and as a casual fan I am trying to figure out whether to tune in. He has had stretches before where a couple of good shooting nights made everyone declare him back, and then it fades. For people who actually watch the Clippers closely: what are you looking at beyond the box score to tell if his rhythm is real this time?
1 answer
- Watch his minutes, not the box score
Box score lies. What I watch is minutes and shot selection: is he playing real rotation minutes or garbage time, and are his shots coming off screens and ball movement or is he forcing contested pull-ups? If the minutes hold and the looks are clean for three or four games in a row, that is a rhythm. One hot night against a tired defense means nothing, and Klay has had plenty of those nights followed by a cold week.
