I keep seeing NBA Cup group standings next to the regular standings and I am confused about what actually counts. My understanding is that Cup games in November also count toward the regular season record, except the final, and the winner gets prize money. I mostly watch weekend games and I am trying to decide whether the Cup games in November are any different to watch than a normal Tuesday or Friday game, or whether it is just the same games with a different label. For people who followed last season: did the Cup change how you watched, or did you just ignore the standings until the knockout rounds?

Cup group games count in the regular standings, so you are not missing anything by treating November games as normal games. The only part that actually feels different is the knockout rounds in December, when teams play like it matters because of the prize money. Save your attention for then and just check the group standings once a week.
