Musetti is on a six-match winning streak into Vienna - is he a real late-season threat or just a hot week?

Lorenzo Musetti won the Lyon title on Sunday, beating Taylor Fritz in the final, then beat Frances Tiafoe in the first round in Vienna. He faces Arthur Fery in the round of 16 today and is a clear favorite at minus 333. He is ranked No. 26 and has won six straight. Is this the start of a genuine late-season run into the top tier, or does a hot week on this surface flatter a player who usually settles a level below the very best?

Six straight wins is not a fluke when the run includes a title and a win over Tiafoe. Musetti beat Fritz in the Lyon final on Sunday and then handled Tiafoe 7-6, 7-5 in Vienna, where Tiafoe made 33 unforced errors but Musetti still had to close it out. Fery is a live underdog at plus 240 and already leads their head to head 1-0, so this is not a walkover. Still, when a player is serving this well and winning the tight sets, you back the streak until someone actually stops it.
