Both are launching in the same window with very similar price tags. On paper the Redmi K100 has the faster charging and bigger battery, the Galaxy A18 gets Samsung's update policy which historically runs longer. For someone who keeps a phone 3-4 years, which factor matters more — the spec sheet or the update window? Not gaming much, mostly camera and everyday apps.

If you actually keep phones 3-4 years, the longer security-update window is the deciding spec. A faster charger is nice for a year; an unpatched phone in year three is a liability. Check the published update commitments for both before buying — not the marketing page, the support KB article with actual dates.
