$5 shipping is customer acquisition, not fine jewelry

Hey Harper is giving away a free pair of $95 earrings today (Oct 20) — just pay $5 shipping. Legit way to try waterproof jewelry, or a gimmick?

Saw that Hey Harper — the waterproof jewelry brand Hailey Bieber, Nara Smith and Peggy Gou have worn — is giving away their Dazzling Long Earrings (normally $95) free today, you just cover $5 shipping, while supplies last. I've been curious about waterproof jewelry but never wanted to commit to the price. It feels like a clever customer-acquisition move, which makes me wonder: is the jewelry actually decent quality, or is the 'free' pair a watered-down version? Anyone tried their stuff?

Nothing free about it. $5 shipping on a pair of earrings that cost them maybe $2 to make and ship is a marketing expense, and you're the product — they want your email and a shot at your next order. That said, 'waterproof' usually just means PVD coating over stainless steel, which is genuinely fine for daily wear and won't turn your ears green. Go in expecting decent costume jewelry, not $95 fine jewelry, and you won't be disappointed.
