Balenciaga Rodeo resale prices are up 258% — do It-bags actually hold value?

Fashion week is everywhere and the Balenciaga Rodeo is going for wild money on resale — I saw data saying resale prices are up 258% this year. I've always wanted a really good bag but I'm not spending $2k to find out it's a bubble. People keep saying 'it-bags hold their value' — is that actually true when you look at sold prices, not just listing prices? Anyone bought secondhand and tracked what happened to the value?
