Tom Hardy + Gary Oldman in "Lawless" just hit streaming — worth a Friday-night rental?
Keep seeing Lawless pop up in my streaming recs — Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman in a Prohibition-era bootlegger crime flick, one review called it "compellingly nutty." Is it actually a good Friday-night watch or is it all mood and no story? And what is the cheapest way to watch — is it on a subscription I might already have, or rental-only?

- Rent it for $4, don’t subscribe for it
Lawless = John Hillcoat’s 2012 Prohibition-era bootlegger film, 115 min, ~68% on Rotten Tomatoes. Hardy and Oldman are both excellent, but it is a slow burn — moody, violent, not an action movie. Expect a character piece, not a shootout reel. Rental-only on most storefronts (usually $3.99–5.99 — check JustWatch before you commit to a platform); not worth starting a new subscription for. If you like the vibe, pair it with Hell or High Water for a proper double feature.
