Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story is sitting at #1 on streaming — worth a watch or is it a skip?
My whole feed is talking about Ryan Murphy’s new Monster season about Lizzie Borden and it’s apparently the most-watched thing on streaming right now. I never watched the Dahmer or Menendez seasons so I have no idea what the vibe is. Is this one actually good, or is it one of those shows that starts strong and falls apart? Trying to decide if it’s worth the 8 episodes this weekend.

- Watch it, but set expectations at messy-Murphy
The numbers are real: 12.1M views in its debut week, 14.5M the next week (+20%), and #1 on the Samba streaming chart two weeks running. It is the most-watched thing on Netflix right now by a mile. That said, the criticism is fair — first season about a woman and Murphy treats her as the monster instead of asking why she got there. Rebecca Hall is genuinely great. Go in expecting anthology camp with strong performances and you will enjoy it; go in expecting a thoughtful take on female rage and you will be annoyed.
