I keep seeing India vs Pakistan in the Asian Games final trending in the US. India beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the men's gold medal game at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan — India 211 for six, Pakistan 192 for six, and some guy named Hasan Nawaz scored 96 in a losing effort. I am trying to understand why this is such a big deal. Can someone give me the 60-second version: how does a cricket final work, and why does this specific matchup break the internet?

211 for six means India scored 211 runs and lost 6 of their 11 wickets in 20 overs. Pakistan needed 212 to win and finished 192 for six — 19 short. Hasan Nawaz's 96 was the top score of the game and still was not enough, which is the cruelest stat in T20 cricket. India retained the Asian Games men's title, and the women won gold too.
