Newegg just opened pre-orders for the first NVIDIA RTX Spark laptops in the US and Canada, starting with the MSI Prestige N16 Flip AI+ at 3299 dollars, limited to one per customer. The pitch is a laptop built to run local AI workloads with RTX graphics and unified memory, instead of sending everything to the cloud. That is a lot of money for a first-generation platform, and the software ecosystem for local models is still early. For someone who actually runs local models or does heavy GPU work on the go, is this the machine to buy now, or is this a wait-for-the-second-generation situation?

Three thousand three hundred dollars for a first-generation platform is a hard no from me. The hardware might be great, but the local-model software stack is still changing every month, and a laptop you buy today will be outclassed by the second generation within a year. If you genuinely need local GPU compute now, a desktop card gives you more for less. Everyone else should wait for reviews and a price cut.
