Next Xbox reportedly launching in 2028 at $1,200 to $1,800 — is a console at PC prices dead on arrival, or does that price make sense now?

A report today puts the next-generation Xbox in 2028 with a price somewhere between $1,200 and $1,800, which is basically gaming-PC money. Consoles used to win on value: one box, one price, no fiddling. At that price the value argument collapses unless the hardware is genuinely a generation ahead. I am still on a Series X and it plays everything fine. Would you pay PC prices for a console, or does this just push everyone toward building a PC instead?

Keep the Series X and wait for real specs

A rumored price two years out is not a buying decision, it is a rumor. My Series X still runs everything I own, and by 2028 there will be bundles, trade-in offers, and probably a cheaper tier. Wait for an official spec sheet and a real price before letting a leak move your money.
