The Elder Scrolls VI finally has an official name reveal: does a title actually tell us anything, or is it just marketing?

Bethesda dropped an official name reveal for The Elder Scrolls VI and it shot straight to the top of YouTube trending in 31 countries, with about 1.5 million views in the first day. I have been burned by hype cycles before, so I am trying to read this cold: a title and a logo tell us nothing about the engine, the map size, or a release window. For people who follow Bethesda closely: has a name reveal ever actually signaled that a game is close, or is this just a way to keep the game in the conversation for another year?

A title reveal tells you nothing. Bethesda announced this game years ago and all we have is a logo and now a name. I do not buy hype, I buy games, and the only signal that ever meant anything was unedited gameplay running on real hardware. Until that shows up, treat every reveal as marketing keeping the name warm.
