I skipped the launch rush for Modern Warfare 4 and now I am trying to decide. The campaign and DMZ are out, Season 1 starts November 6 with Warzone integration, and the game is not coming to Game Pass until Holiday 2027, so waiting for Game Pass is a long wait. For people playing it now: is the multiplayer already in a good state, or is Season 1 the real starting point? I mostly play with two friends a few nights a week and I do not want to buy in just as the meta resets.

Wait for Season 1. You already waited past launch, and November 6 is three days away. Season 1 brings Warzone integration and the first real balance pass, so buying now means paying full price to learn maps that may change right away. If your group is only playing a few nights a week, those three days cost you nothing and you get the version everyone will actually be playing.

Buy now if your squad is already in

Buy now if your friends are already playing. Waiting for Season 1 sounds smart on paper, but the whole point for a small group is playing together, and three nights a week with friends beats a perfectly balanced patch you play alone. DMZ is already live, the campaign is done, and if Season 1 changes the meta you will learn it together. Just skip the Vault Edition extras unless you actually want the skins.
