Movember started yesterday - grow the mustache, just donate, or is there a smarter way to do it?

Movember kicked off November 1 and a few friends are already posting their clean-shaven day one photos. I like the cause - prostate cancer and mens mental health - but I am on the fence about the mustache itself since mine grows in patchy and I work in an office. Is the mustache the whole point, or does just donating and talking about it count? For people who have done Movember before: what actually raised money and got conversations started, and what was a waste of effort?

Move 60k beats a patchy mustache

If the mustache is patchy, do Move for Movember instead: commit to running or walking 60 kilometers in November, one for each of the 60 men lost to suicide every hour worldwide. That number is the actual Movember stat and it gives people a reason to ask what you are doing every single day, which is the whole point. The mustache is a billboard; the 60k is a conversation starter that works even in an office.
