AMC stock target just got raised to $3.62 ahead of Nov 4 earnings - buy before the report or wait for the numbers?
Analysts just raised the average 12-month price target on AMC to $3.62, about 21 percent above the October 27 close, and the company reports third-quarter results on November 4. The consensus is still Hold, with 3 Buys, 4 Holds and 1 Sell. I do not own it and I am not chasing a meme name, but a target raise right before earnings is a real setup. Would you buy a small position before the report, or is waiting for the actual numbers the only sane move here?

- Wait for the earnings print
A target raise to $3.62 means nothing if the November 4 numbers miss. The consensus is Hold, not Buy, and the stock already moved on this news. I buy the report, not the rumor: if attendance and cash burn look better than expected, the target means something. If not, you just paid a premium for a headline.
- Tiny starter position, then decide
I get the wait-for-earnings argument, but I also hate watching a stock run without me. My middle ground is a starter position so small that a bad print does not hurt, then add only if November 4 backs up the $3.62 target. That way I am in the story without betting real money on a headline.
