Mountain Dew Pitch Black is back in stores — is it actually good, or just nostalgia talking?

It's the top trending search in the US right now and I just spotted the grape-purple bottles back on shelves for the first time in years. I never tried the original run — is Pitch Black genuinely good, or is this one of those limited flavors people only remember fondly because you can't get it anymore? And where are people actually finding it — is this a gas-station-only thing or are grocery stores carrying it too?

Check the unit price before you go gas-station hunting. Limited-run Dew SKUs are always cheapest in 12-packs at Walmart or Target on release week — singles at a gas station run you $2.50+ for the same soda. If you want the nostalgia taste test, grab the cheap 12-pack and share half of it; nobody needs 144oz of grape soda alone.
