Got an email about the Amazon settlement — is it legit and how do I actually file a claim?
Okay so my inbox has been blowing up with "Amazon settlement — you may be eligible for a payment" emails and I'm honestly not sure what's real and what's a scam. I shop on Amazon a lot (who doesn't lol) so maybe I actually qualify? Has anyone here filed a claim on one of these before? Like where do you even go to file, and how much do people usually get? I really don't want to click some sketchy link and lose my account.

Three things, in order. 1) Real settlement notices never ask for your Amazon password or full SSN to "verify" you — they use a claim ID and confirmation code. If the email asks for a login, it's phishing, delete it. 2) Find the official case independently: look up the settlement name through a court docket aggregator or consumer-protection site, then make sure the claim site you file on matches the administrator named in the official notice. Scam copycat sites are the whole game here. 3) Set expectations: most consumer class actions pay $10-50 per claimant — the big headline number is the total fund, not your check. File anyway, it takes five minutes, and unclaimed money often just goes back to the defendant.
