> Stores already have Christmas trees up on November 2 - put lights up now or wait until after Thanksgiving?

> Halloween ended two days ago and my street already has string lights and a tree in one window. Every year I say I will get ahead of it, and every year I end up untangling lights in the cold in mid-December. For people who actually enjoy the decorating part: is early November the smart move while the weather is still decent, or does putting it all up now just mean you are sick of looking at it by Christmas? Where do you draw the line - lights now, tree later?

> Lights now, tree after Thanksgiving

> I do the outside lights this weekend while I can still feel my fingers, but I leave them switched off until the weekend after Thanksgiving. You get the miserable ladder work done in decent weather and the house still feels like Christmas when it counts. The tree stays in the box though, because a real tree up for seven weeks is just a fire hazard with ornaments on it.
