> The NFL trade deadline is November 10 at 4pm ET and the Colts are already selling pieces after trading Quenton Nelson to Seattle. That got me thinking about the other side of it: which contending team most needs to buy before the deadline? A pass rusher, a corner, a receiver, somebody to cover an injury? Who is one move away and who should just stand pat?

> Rent a pass rusher, do not trade picks for a receiver

> Contenders should buy defense, not another receiver. A rental pass rusher costs a late pick and changes a playoff game, while a receiver needs weeks to learn the playbook and usually costs a second-rounder or more. Look at the teams losing close games because they cannot get off the field on third down, that is where the deadline actually moves a season.
