> "K-shaped economy" is everywhere this week, up something like 17 times year over year in search interest. My gut says it is a catchy chart that means nothing for a normal person. Someone convince me either way: does it change how a regular earner should save and invest, or is it just pundit talk?

> It is real, and it is about quintiles

> Not vibes. Look at the data: since 2024 the top income quintile captured nearly all the gains in spending power while the bottom 40% cut real spending. That is the K — upper stroke up, lower stroke down. What it means for you: if you are in the top half, invest the surplus; if you are in the bottom half, prioritize liquidity and do not reach for risk to keep up.
