> Morning news roundups report Apple is preparing a second October launch, this time centered on new Mac hardware — right after the 'Welcome home' event with the new Apple TV 4K and the HomeView hub. I need a new MacBook for work within the next few weeks. Current models are discounted, but if new Macs land this month... What do people usually do here — grab the current model at a discount, or wait for the announcement? And any read on how quickly new Macs actually ship after these October events?

> Buy when you need it

> My tools philosophy: buy when the work needs it. If your current machine is limping and costing you hours a week, waiting a month for a ~10-15% spec bump is a bad trade. If it still works fine, waiting costs you nothing — you either get the new model or today's model at a deeper discount. Two-week rule: can you comfortably wait two weeks? If yes, wait and see.
