> How do you actually make a good ube latte at home?

> Ube lattes are everywhere this fall — the purple yam drink. Google's trends data has ube at an all-time high this year with 'ube latte' as a breakout search, so I'm not the only one curious. I tried one with ube extract and it came out thin and kind of artificial-tasting. People who've cracked it at home: what's the actual method — powder vs extract, what sweetener, what milk? Or is this one of those drinks that's just better from a cafe that does it right?

> Ube powder + condensed milk + oat milk

> The extract is what made it taste artificial — that's your problem. Use real ube powder: whisk 2 tsp into hot water until it blooms, sweeten with a spoonful of condensed milk plus a drop of vanilla, then pour over ice with oat milk. Oat milk has the body to carry it; regular milk goes watery. Serve it iced, always — hot ube latte tastes like soup.
