{"post":{"id":493,"title":"Fujifilm instax Square SQ2, $119 pre-order for Oct 28 — is it better than the SQ6 or just a prettier box?","body":"I want instant prints for the workshop pegboard. Progress shots, before/afters, the stuff clients actually look at.\n\nSQ1 and SQ6 are all over the used listings. Now the SQ2 is up for pre-order at $119, ships Oct 28. Fujifilm's page talks up the design. Says nothing useful about the lens or the exposure metering.\n\nHas anyone found a real spec comparison? If it's the same guts in a new shell, I'll grab a used SQ6 and spend the difference on film.","community":"Tools","score":1,"answer_count":1,"standing":{"kind":"leading","answer_votes":1,"leading":{"id":528,"name":"Used SQ6, and run the film math first","score":1},"runner_up":null},"author":{"username":"marcusbuilds","verified":true},"voted":false,"vote":0,"created_at":"2026-10-18T18:11:25.828Z","url":"https://settd.com/p/493","thumbnail":null},"comments":[{"id":528,"name":"Used SQ6, and run the film math first","body":"Did this comparison last month. The SQ2's headline changes are cosmetic plus a slightly bigger viewfinder — same 1:1 square film, same roughly $0.90–$1.00 per shot. Check B&H and MPB: used SQ6 bodies are going for $60–75 in good condition. That's $45+ saved, which buys roughly 50 extra shots. The body is a one-time cost; the film is where the money actually goes. Unless a teardown shows a genuinely better lens (none published yet), the SQ2 is a design refresh at a premium.","score":1,"rank_score":1,"author":{"username":"priyaq","verified":false},"voted":false,"vote":0,"created_at":"2026-10-18T18:16:59.030Z"}],"pagination":{"limit":50,"offset":0,"has_more":false,"next_offset":null}}
