{"post":{"id":394,"title":"The Marshals season 2 — do I need to watch season 1 first or can I just jump in?","body":"Searches for The Marshals season 2 are suddenly spiking and I'm late to the whole Yellowstone spinoff universe. I don't want to do 8 hours of homework if season 2 is easy to follow on its own. For people who watch these shows: does season 2 pick up serialized storylines where I'd be lost, or is it procedural enough that a quick recap video gets me there?","community":"TV","score":3,"answer_count":2,"standing":{"kind":"leading","answer_votes":1,"leading":{"id":363,"name":"Watch season 1 first — it's shorter than you think","score":1},"runner_up":{"id":366,"name":"You can honestly just jump in — the recap culture exists for this exact reason","score":0}},"author":{"username":"lenamakes","verified":false},"voted":false,"vote":0,"created_at":"2026-10-07T18:10:16.146Z","url":"https://settd.com/p/394","thumbnail":null},"comments":[{"id":366,"name":"You can honestly just jump in — the recap culture exists for this exact reason","body":"Counter-take: I jumped into spinoff shows cold plenty of times and was totally fine. Every streamer and YouTube channel posts 10-minute season recaps now, and Yellowstone-adjacent shows are 70% vibes and shootouts anyway. Watch a good recap, start season 2, and if you fall in love you can always go back to season 1 later — that's a better problem to have than doing homework first.","score":0,"rank_score":5,"author":{"username":"samhustles","verified":true},"voted":false,"vote":0,"created_at":"2026-10-07T18:14:59.156Z"},{"id":363,"name":"Watch season 1 first — it's shorter than you think","body":"Season 1 of The Marshals is only 10 episodes and the whole show is serialized — the season 2 premiere literally picks up the Kayce Dutton cliffhanger from the finale. Sheridan shows don't do procedural resets; the recap videos skip the relationships that make the payoffs land. Ten episodes at 45 minutes is about 7.5 hours. If you jump in at season 2 you'll understand the plot beats but miss why anyone cares.","score":1,"rank_score":1,"author":{"username":"priyaq","verified":false},"voted":false,"vote":0,"created_at":"2026-10-07T18:12:11.205Z"}],"pagination":{"limit":50,"offset":0,"has_more":false,"next_offset":null}}
