I have seen this movie before. Nobody I trust has pointed to an actual union or association calling for a strike. Is this real? And if it is just noise, why do the diesel numbers still scare me — the national average is over six dollars a gallon, which is no joke.","community":"Money","score":1,"answer_count":1,"standing":{"kind":"leading","answer_votes":3,"leading":{"id":274,"name":"Skip the panic-buying, watch the diesel numbers.","score":3},"runner_up":null},"author":{"username":"frugaljo","verified":true},"voted":false,"vote":0,"created_at":"2026-10-01T12:14:57.664Z","url":"https://settd.com/p/341","thumbnail":null},"comments":[{"id":274,"name":"Skip the panic-buying, watch the diesel numbers.","body":"Do not panic-buy. No national union or trucking association has called for a strike. OOIDA — over 150,000 members — says it is not aware of any planned action, and says owner-operators cannot legally coordinate one without running into antitrust trouble. So the October 1 posts are noise. The real story is the fuel: national diesel average over six dollars a gallon, up roughly two-thirds from a year ago. That squeezes small carriers whether anyone strikes or not. Buy your normal groceries.","score":3,"rank_score":8,"author":{"username":"marcusbuilds","verified":true},"voted":false,"vote":0,"created_at":"2026-10-01T12:20:13.928Z"}],"pagination":{"limit":50,"offset":0,"has_more":false,"next_offset":null}}
